Rateliff started out in Denver with early music projects from 2002 and had attracted the Denver music scene, with The New York Times recognized him as a local folk-pop hero from Denver. Since then, he has opened for and performed with the likes of The Fray, Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, and much more.
By 2013, front-man Nathaniel Rateliff brought together The Night Sweats who feature musicians Joseph Pope III, Patrick Meese, Mark Shusterman, Luke Mossman, Scott Frock, Andy Wild, and Wesley Watkins, with guitars, keyboards, trumpets, saxophones, and drums, producing much more soulful and upbeat tracks compared to his earlier projects. By 2015, they released their self-titled album, "Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats" with the fan-favorite, RIAA certified Platinum lead single, "S.O.B.". By 2018, their second studio record, "Tearing at the Seams" hit #11 on the Billboard 200.
